The
Twilight Debate
Hola mis amigos! I am really excited about writing this
blog its been something I’ve been keen to write for a while now, and the time
is now!
What exactly is the twilight debate?
Essentially the debate is those who love it, adore it, basically it is their life Vs those whom hate it, loathe it, made a movie vampires suck just to prove how stupid it is (good movie by the way.)

I’ve never heard of twilight, what is it?
All I can say is, do you live in a shell? Where have you been, whether you hate it or love it very few people haven’t heard of twilight. It’s a series of books (4 books and 4 films now will be 5 later this year I think.) The author Stephanie Meyers who currently lives in Arizona America is a millionaire due to her Twilight concept.
The Story
Twilight is basically about a girl named Bella Swan who ends up going to live
with her father down in Forks. At school she meets various people, the most
important being Edward Cullen whom she appears to essentially ‘like at first
site’. He saves her from a dangerous situation and she ends up discovering that
he’s in fact a vampire alongside the rest of his ‘family’. They fall in love
and then loads of shindig goes down and Bella ends up in serious danger with
these ‘not cool’ bunch of vampires. It’s a close call but she ends up being
saved by the Cullen’s and that’s pretty much it to be honest. But because of my
rather ‘naff’ description I’ll put in a summary I found on the internet :) -
wikapedia
Twilight is
a series of four vampire-themed fantasy romance novels by
American author Stephenie Meyer. It charts a period in the
life of Isabella
"Bella" Swan, a teenage girl who moves to Forks, Washington,
and falls in love with a 104-year-old vampire named Edward Cullen.
The series is told primarily from Bella's point of view, with the epilogue of Eclipse and Part II of Breaking Dawn
being told from the viewpoint of character Jacob Black, a werewolf.
Twi
hard fan or sexualised vampire hater?
I have very mixed opinions on the subject.
On one hand no one can deny the success of these books
and now film (and I suppose even t-shirt franchise) that have made author
Stephanie Meyer millions. Furthermore when I originally read the books I’m
going to admit...if a little embarrassingly that I was a pretty major fan. I
couldn’t wait until the new book Breaking Dawn came out (at the time it hadn’t
quite been released) after speed reading through the first three.
Also as partial evidence so the argument that Twilight
books are geniounly good books, is it often that people who criticise the books
have actually read them? Moreover the majority of those who appear to have
negative comments about the novels themselves haven’t actually read them but
have been obsessively told about them by their girlfriends or have been dragged
to each film showing on the release dates by younger sisters of husbands by
excitable wives (my friends husband said he remembered saying he’d love her
till death however he didn’t quite remember the added part that required him to
watch ‘the most tedious film on earth three times’. Only to be corrected by his
wife that actually she had secretly added it into the contract.)
Now if someone said to me that they had never read the
books so didn’t really have an valid opinion on them but hated the films I can
easily understand.
I personally really dislike the majority of the actors/actresses in the Twilight film and think that they do the books no justice and don’t really play the characters that well. Kristin Stuart seriously ‘does my head in’ and I really don’t understand why everyone seems obsessed with Robert Patterson or R-Patz as the magazines have named him...yes I know it’s really quite bad he sounds like some dodgy past his time rap star.

However I think the books are quite good, quite light
hearted (to an extent) and good for teenagers (mainly girls I’m afraid probably
guys.)
But despite all that I’ve said in favour of this
franchise I’d have to say that I’d much rather ‘take the mick’ out of the films
and books as there is when you look critically a lot of badly done things from
the suicidal teenager being represented as a role model to a bedazzled vampire
contrasting from any typical evil vampire type images.
If you fancy a film that...well...here’s the description
and a link below but I promise all you twilight haters you will truly enjoy
this ‘take’ on this teen obsessed books.
Furthermore check out the barley political you tubers who
have done several Kristin Stuart inspired videos such as her explaining
Christmas and Valentine’s Day (newest ones) link below
Other
vampire TV series/films
Vampire diaries – Seriously if you are a teenage girl and
are not watching this then you have no life, or maybe it is me who has no life?
Either way this series is amazing.
Being Human – Truly traditional vampires meet cute
aggressive wolves meets awesome afterlife friends, this is a must watch for
everyone.
True Blood – A saucy, southern American blood bath that
stars some mega hot stars, what’s your excuse for not watching it?
So that’s my Twilight debate blog post, I hope you
enjoyed it and please (with cherries on top) comment, do you prefer beauty or
bonkers blog posts please reveal all and your wishes are my command.
Over and out
